Homemade CBD kombucha

Store-bought CBD drinks are expensive, and many don't even disclose how much CBD is inside — you could be paying a premium for next to none. Since Ange already makes kombucha, she wanted a version that actually works for her, without breaking the bank.

Even brands that disclose their CBD content often don't include enough for Ange to feel any effects — and everyone's body and dosage needs are different. If you're not familiar with CBD, do your own research from trusted, fact-based sources; Hemplucid's FAQ (her favorite CBD maker) is one starting point.

No medical claims about CBD or kombucha here — just personal opinions and experiences. Health questions belong with a physician. (More of Ange's thinking in Is kombucha good for you?)

Adding CBD to homemade kombucha

  • Use a brand you trust (recommendations below).
  • Use a water-soluble CBD product. Most oil-based tinctures won't readily dissolve in liquids — the video has her full thoughts on this.
  • Dose for your own needs. Everyone's different; Ange generally uses around 30–40 mg per bottle to help manage her anxiety.
  • Add it at bottling — right into the bottle just before sealing for second fermentation — or directly into the glass right before drinking. She's found no difference in efficacy either way.
  • Never in F1. Don't add CBD to the first-fermentation vessel or let it touch your SCOBY — like other flavorings and additives, it can degrade the culture over time.

Ange's favorite CBD products

Please note Ange is a Hemplucid affiliate. She purchased and tested many CBD products herself before deciding which brand worked best for her, and gets a portion of Hemplucid's profit if you buy through her links — at no extra cost to you. If you feel comfortable purchasing through them, thank you! Otherwise, buy from wherever you like. No hard feelings. You do what you've gotta do for your bucha. :)
